Endemic to our coastline, this species is a master of survival in some of the most extreme and dynamic microhabitats in the region.<\/p><p data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1827\">With its streaked brown plumage, strong legs, and slightly decurved bill, the Surf Cinclodes is perfectly adapted to life in the spray zone. Unlike most songbirds, it spends much of its time <strong data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1613\">foraging right at the edge of breaking waves<\/strong>, picking out small crustaceans, intertidal invertebrates, and mollusks from cracks in the rock.
