Alfredo along the coast south of Lima, first targeting some lesser known wetlands that gave some unexpected surprises, then heading to Pucusana for a boat trip out to see the boobies, cormorants, and penguins. Alfredo is very friendly and knowledgeable and a great conversationalist, and I hugely appreciated both his flexibility with the itinerary\/price and his willingness to go out of his way for difficult targets, particularly the Humboldt penguin, which was proving elusive that day. He volunteered to coordinate all the tour including the Amazon and Lima environs.  We are birders and he ensured that we had the best birding experience.  We saw over 240 species of birds!  The most important thing was that he took care of us throughout the trip, from picking us up at the airport, arranging premium flights to the Amazon, finding us a wonderful hotel in Lima, guaranteeing I saw an amazila hummingbird, to ensuring we arrived at the airport on time for our flight home despite the Lima traffic. We couldn\u2019t be happier with the day. Our guide Frank was the perfect guide. He knows the exact areas to see specific birds which is major in leading these tours. We visited lakes, a river canyon, and an incredible hummingbird sanctuary. All The terrain was diverse and so were the birds we saw. In the lagunas were teals, ducks, grebes, a flamingo and more. At the beautiful hummingbird garden, we spotted eight different hummingbird species including the amazing Sword-billed and the Great Sapphirewing. Our favorite was in the river canyon where we actually saw two Torrent Ducks as they swam there way upstream against incredible forces, jump up on rocks, and then back in the water again. It was truly spectacular. Frank was patient, helpful, full of great information, and just plain fun. Our driver Hilmar was a wonderful addition to the tour. Not only could he maneuver any traffic situation, he was even on the lookout for birds and stopped whenever there was a sighting. He was an added asset for sure. We came back with so many wonderful memories. All logistics\u2014from the meeting point to safety briefings\u2014were handled very professionally.\n\nOnce we were offshore, the wildlife activity was nonstop. We enjoyed close views of Humboldt Penguins, Inca Terns, and large numbers of Peruvian Boobies and Guanay Cormorants. Further out, we encountered impressive seabirds including White-chinned Petrels, Pink-footed Shearwaters, Waved Albatross, and several storm-petrel species feeding around the boat. The crew was experienced, and Alfredo\u2019s spotting skills made sure we didn\u2019t miss anything.\n\nA fantastic trip for birders, photographers, and anyone interested in Peru\u2019s rich marine life. expeditions in South America.<\/p>\n<p>Alfredo studied a double degree in Biology and Political Studies at the University of Victoria, in British Columbia, as he wanted to work on Conservation Projects in the Neotropics. During his his time in Canada, he honed his skills as a Nature Photographer and eventually landed a Grant from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/explorer-directory.nationalgeographic.org\/alfredo-fernandez\"><b><u>National Geographic Society to work on the Lomas Ecosystem<\/u><\/b>,<\/a> a fog-oasis ecosystem unique to the
